This page was intended to be a brief summary of the creation, deeds and destiny of Lucifer and his followers. Sorry, it is not so brief. While the spiritual battle between good and evil is the main topic, a section on some modern myths that have arisen by denying the Great Flood ever happened is included.
The Rebellion
According to an ancient Hebrew document called Jubilees [Ch2:v2] God created all the heavenly beings on the first day of the creation week. Although the Bible does not blatantly say it, some think it indicates that Lucifer was one of, or possibly, the most senior angelic being. Despite this, it was not long before Lucifer decided he wanted even more, to sit in God’s throne.
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!
how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
For thou hast said in thine heart,
I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:
I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation,
in the sides of the north:
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;
I will be like the most High.
Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms; That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners? [Isa 14:12-17]
By slandering God, Lucifer even seduced a third of the angels to join in his rebellion.
And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon … And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth … [Rev 12:3-4]
Note that Lucifer is Satan, is the Devil, is the serpent, is the dragon.
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. [Rev 12:9]
Having stolen from heaven as much as he could Lucifer turned his focus on the earth. His next project was to deceive Eve with his lethal lies.
Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which Yehovah God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said ... [Gen 3:1]
Eve understandably gets a bad press for being deceived but Adam’s mistake was far worse because he knew what he was doing when he disobeyed God’s protective commandment.
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. [1Ti 2:14]
So the fact you will physically die is accredited to Adam not Eve but clearly she was fully complicit.
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. [1Co 15:22]
Some people refuse to accept that we can inherit curse from our ancestors. However, as we have inherited death from Adam this clearly proves the inaccuracy of their assessment.
After man’s fall God told the serpent that a descendant of the woman would destroy him.
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. [Gen 3:15]
Lucifer then schemed to block God sending the seed of the woman that was to destroy him, by causing all the seed of the women to be so corrupted that they were no longer the seed of woman but had become his seed.
Around 1300 years after the creation of the world and 800 years before the Great Flood, 200 of the corrupted fallen angels that were following Lucifer, descended to earth in physical bodies. They were lusting after human women and perversely desired them to bear them children. The Bible refers to these fallen angels as sons of God [Job 1:6, 2:1, 38:7] and also as Watchers [Dan 4:13, 4:17, 4:23].
There were giants [nephilim] in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of god [fallen angels] came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them , the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. [Gen 6:4]
The Bible actually says very little about these fallen angels but there is another ancient Hebrew document called 1st Enoch that frequently mentions the Watchers and provides a lot more information about them:
And Azazel taught men to make swords, and knives, and shields, and breastplates,
and made known to them the metals of the earth and the art of working them,
and bracelets, and ornaments, and the use of antimony [used as black eyeshadow],
and the beautifying of the eyelids, and all kinds of costly stones,
and all colouring tinctures.
And there arose much godlessness, and they committed fornication, and they were led astray, and became corrupt in all their ways.
Semjaza taught enchantments and root-cuttings,
Armaros the resolving of enchantments,
Baraqijal taught astrology,
Kokabel the constellations,
Ezeqeel the knowledge of the clouds,
Araqiel the signs of the earth,
Shamsiel the signs of the sun, and
Sariel the course of the moon.
And as men perished, they cried, and their cry went up to heaven. [Enoch 8:1-3]
Later in chapter 29 Enoch gives some further details, here are a few of them:
Jeqon: led astray the sons of God … through the daughters of men.
Gadreel: showed the children of men all the blows of death, and showed the shield, the coat of mail, the sword for battle, and all the weapons of death ...
Penemue: instructed mankind in writing with ink and paper,
Kasdeja: showed the … smitings of the embryo in the womb, that it may pass away,
